Life after school is one phase of life with it own bitter-sweet experience or should I say sweet-bitter experience.
First
after graduating, it seems to be one of the thrilling moment because of the feeling of being free atlast after spending four or five years or even more for those who ASUU or ASUP strike elongated their study year in higher institution.
For some their state of ecstasy increases with high hope because of the good grade they obtained or maybe because they are degree holders thinking after NYSC they will be hot cakes for companies and Government agencies to chase after.
But as times goes on after six months of waiting extending to a year, then the bitter experience begins with reality showing it trueself, only then, will they realize that there isn't any job waiting for anyone.
Growing up as kids, we were told that in the early 60's to 80's jobs were waiting for you after graduation if you are competent. But it seems in our time things are alot different.
These days, if you don't have any recommendation from one big man some where or the so called community chance, your chances of employment is slim whether you are competent or not.
As I end this piece let me share a story of a friend who went submitting his resume in one of the well known construction companies in Portharcourt. He was shock with the reply he got. He was told the company does not accept CV except recommended by known person or through host community that he stop coming.
